Sometimes you just have to jump in feet first.

In 2017/2018 there was a massive boom in independent comics sales and creation through crowdfunding on Indiegogo. This inspired many people to follow new creators, join in on many comic related discussions, create fan art, and even design their own characters and comic properties.

During this boom a man on twitter that went by the name of “Doctor Science Wizard” gathered a ragtag group of fellow indie comic fan artists to get together and create a collage of their original characters. They all began chatting and building upon the ideas. One of those people, Josh VanHalteren created a narrative structure to connect all these characters with vastly different backgrounds and histories. The NexSys: And as they brainstormed and built upon the idea and created more lore and characters and creatures to bring it to life, Josh decided to created his own comic book publisher named after the man that initially brought them all together. Now if they if they wanted to write and draw actual comics in this world they could do so. The team all agreed and allowed him and Troy to take charge with the direction and they began crafting stories, Help Becky Smash and GateCrashers by Josh Last Call and The Offspring by Troy Torres, Heavy Metal Odyssey by SmackinKracken and they are still building these ideas in hopes of bringing them to audiences with a big bang in the future.

Unfortunately much of the original group slowly went their separate ways. What remained became the core team behind Science Wizard Comics. Troy decided to publish Juanpool through the label. Theron Kurth approached Josh about doing art for Pineapple Pizza Man and joined the team and Kraken resurrected his old web comic The Chicken Warrior to be rebooted and printed under the label. Unvarnished took on a supporting role until she felt confident enough start building her own comic with “Vessel” and Oscar Rodriguez joined to build a comic that takes place within his CROSS universe.

The hard work continues and hopefully Pineapple Pizza Man, The Chicken and The Offspring will be launching 2021 or early 2022 with their first issues.

We’ve come a long way and we plan to travel a long way further still. We hope that you’ll come along for the ride.

Big things are on the horizon.
